Stains can get tougher on carpets, so the moment you discover any stains on your carpets you should not ignore it and act on it immediately. Regular vacuuming and cleaning your carpets will add life to your carpets. Often soil get deposited in the carpets due to our shoes but if they are not cleaned on time this  soil remains embedded on the carpet and lead to further damage . The carpet fibres will also be damaged due to this.

In order to take care of carpets at home the first step that you can take is to remove your shoes when you step on the carpet area. This way germs and soil will not get trapped in your carpet. Walking barefoot on the carpet will actually help in extending the life of your carpets.  In order to make your carpets last and prevent germs from building up make sure that you vacuum your carpets regularly.
You can use a vacuum cleaner with suction function so that the cleaning process can be effective. You can also get your carpet steam cleaned too. However make sure that you check the manufacturers care instructions before you try to do anything at home. There are some carpets that need to be dry-cleaned so make sure that you follow the instructions. If you have children or pets at home three is bound to be spills. Once there is a spill, try to act as son possible as the spill will settle down in the carpet fibres if it is left unattended for long.
Use diluted vinegar to remove the stain with the help of a lint free cloth. Never use any abrasive chemicals as the fibres of the carpet will be damaged .You could also use blotting paper to soak the stain and then you could use vinegar. If the spill is thick you could use some paper towels to get rid of it. Never try to scrub the spill as it will lead the spill to sink deeper into the carpet. If your carpet gets wet due to water spillage makes sure that you use a towel to soak up the water and then you could use your hair dryer to dry it out completely.  Borax is also considered to be effective for cleaning carpet stains .Take your carpets out in the sun once in a while so that your carpet stays good
